It seems that Aquilani being left out of the squad to face Trabzonspor wasn’t just to rest the player as a loan transfer to Juventus is imminent.
Aquilani didn’t start his Liverpool career in the best way singing for them with an injury that kept him sidelined for months and when finally free of injury was nowhere near any kind of match fitness and didn’t get much playing near the end of the season. Roy Hodgson has said that he is looking to loan out Aquilani out to an Italian team to get the first team football he needs to get fit, but that seems to be counter productive as surely he would have the same chances at first team football at Anfield as he would at Juventus.
And if Aquilani has a succesful season with Juventus, Liverpool could be tempted to sell him and recoup some of the money they spent on him as there is rumoured to be a £17million transfer agreement that can be activated at the end of the loan. And with that in mind Liverpool and Roy Hodgson will be keeping close tabs on him this season
