at 35 Del Piero is still the hero at Juventus. with the only goal in the second leg Del Piero sends Juventus through to the group stage as they beat Strum Graz 3-1 on Agg. it just doesn’t look like Del Piero is going to stop anytime soon and when playing so well why should that conversation even come up.

but Aston Villa didnt far so well as they lost 3-2 on the night and lost the tie overall. fans and management alike wont be happy with the fact that there will no european football at villa park this season, the fans will miss out on top quality football and the club will miss out on the extra money that comes with european football. when martin O’Neill left caretaker manager started off ok but losing the last couple of games and going out of europe it’s unlikely that he will get the job on a permanent basis but the question now is who will come in?

Liverpool had a scare as they went a goal down early on and left it late as they got lucky with an own goal and then dirk kuyt scored to put the tie past Trabzonspor, Liverpool fans will be hoping for better performances in the future as the last few have not been all that awe-inspiring.

Celtic crashed out of europe which does not bode well for Neil Lennon in his managerial debut but is something he is going to learn from and hopefully improve on in the future. a hat trick from van Wolfswinkel put the tie past them on the night as FC Utrecht won 4-0

Manchester City went through with a 2-0 win, winning the tie 3-0 overall. Now qualified with all the money spent this summer fans will be hoping for a good run in the Europa league and more than likely hoping to win the cup to get  European Cup under their belts.

Other upsets on the night were Galatasaray losing and going out to Ukrainian side Karpaty winning 3-3 on away goals on Agg. Gent also causes an upset with dumping Feyenoord out of the Europa league winning 2-0 on the night winning the tie 2-1 overall.PSG almost went out as they lost to Maccabi Tel Aviv 4-3 but winning the tie on Agg. 5-4. Sporting lost their first leg to Bronby 2-0 but won the second leg 3-0 to go through 3-2 on Agg and they will join the rest of the teams in the draw being held today.
