With the early kick-off we saw Arsene Wenger go up against rival Sam Allardyce. Arsenal took the lead with a net breaking strike from in form Theo Walcott. But Blackburn got back level with a Diouf Diouf combination. El-Hadji Diouf sent up on loan Mame Diouf to tap in the equalizer before Arshavin got the winner. Wenger will be happy not just as his side won on the day but also this is his first away victory over Sam Allardyce in seven games. Unfortunately but not totally unexpectedly Robin Van Persia did get injured and will have scans on Monday to see the extent of the damage.
Fulham got themselves a draw against Blackpool in a match that ended in excitement. With Capello watching Bobby Zamora headed Fulham into the lead but late in the game Pantsail scored and own got as the shot from new signing Varney deflected off him. Varney then got his debut goal as he put Blackpool in the lead thanks to a through ball from Brent Ormerod. But with the minutes ticking down Fulham got the equalizer with a goal from ending the game 2-2.
Cheese didn’t manage six but did keep their 100% record as they beat hard-working Stoke 2-0 with goals from Malouda and Didier Drogba. Malouda is carrying on his goal scoring form on from the end of last season and really seems to be coming into hid own right now.
Newcastle v Wolves finished 1-1 as Andy Carroll scored for Newcastle to rub out Sylvan Ebanks-Blake’s superb opener. If Andy Carroll carries on scoring likes this then an England call-up shouldn’t be far away.
Spurs felt the effects of the midweek Champions League fixture as they lost 1-0 to Wigan. Hugo Rodallega scored the goal that put the game past Spurs as Wigan finally got their first win of the season. Tottenham put in a really poor performance as Wigan took revenge for last seasons 9-1 humiliation. Al Habsi had a great match keeping Wigan in the game at the end making a string if saves.
Manchester United defeated West Ham 3-0 with a goal from Wayne Rooney away the penalty on 32 minutes after Jonathan Spector had fouled Ryan Giggs. Rooney was instrumental again as he set up Nani and he finished it off well. Dimitar Berbatov scored the third with a spectacular volley. This leaves West Ham bottom of the Premier League.
