England won their second game in the group stage against Switzerland 3-1 with goals from Rooney, Johnson and Bent.

For the first Walcott beat his man on the wing and found Johnson out wide who then played a low ball across the box which Rooney tapped in. Unfortunately for Walcott as the cross came so did a tackle on his ankle which took him out of the game. Adam Johnson came on for the injured Walcott and again seemed impressive.

England’s second goal came on the 69th minute. Defoe was down injured but the referee decided to keep play going and so did England with  Rooney passing to Gerrard who played a perfectly weighted ball through the middle for Adam Johnson who cut into the box and took it round Benaglio and slotted into the empty net, another game and another goal for an impressive Adam Johnson.

But only minutes later Switzerland got back in the game with a screamer from young starlet Shaqiri. Joe Hart didn’t stand much of a chance as the speed, power and swerve that was on the ball. At the end of the game Joe Hart and Shaqiri could be seen talking about it with Hart still in high spirits about out it.

England’s third came from substitute Darren Bent who came on for the injured Defoe. Ashley Cole put Bent through who was able to slide home the goal in the same way does for Sunderland, something that he has been unable to do for England.

Another good performance from England with a seemingly rejuvenated Rooney is a pleasant sign to eyes still sore from this summers World Cup. Adam Johnson again impress’ and I will say it again I believe Johnson should be first choice for England right-wing. Joe Hart may not have been as assured in-goal tonight but he got through it and he will look forward to future games to impress still. Good performances from young and old makes for an encouraging future.
