Group A

Werder Bremen 2 – Tottenham 2

FC Twente 2 – Inter Milan 2

FC Twente went a goal down to Sneijder but came back in the game with a goal from Janssen, then took the lead with an own goal by Milito from a corner. Inter got the draw with a stunning goal from Eto’o. Both teams drawing 2-2 and the Group is dead even. Interesting Match Day two to come here then.

Group B

Lyon 1 – Schalke 0

Even with new signing Raul, wearing his number 7, Schalke were unable to win or draw against Lyon. Michel Bastos got the goal that gave Lyon the win tonight.

Benfica 2 – Hapoel Tel-Aviv 0

Luisão scored the 1000th goal in the Champions League and gave Benfica the lead and Óscar Cardozo got the second.

Group C

Manchester United 0 – Glasgow Rangers 0

Manchester United didn’t have the strongest team out to face Rangers but still good players were on show. Ferdinand was back in the side and Smalling partnered him. Rooney played also but Rangers played with everyone behind the ball and earned their point as their goal keeper didn’t have to make a save relegating Man Utd to long shots and Darron Gibson had the majority of those. Rangers will be happy with this Man Utd might not. Unfortunately Antonio Valencia went off injured during the game with a bad leg break from a routine tackle from Broadfoot. Here is to hoping for a quick and fully recovery to him.

Bursaspor 0 – Valencia 4

Valencia may have sold David Villa & David Silva to deal with their debt but they have brought in some players to fill the gap and they seem to be fitting in. Goals from Tino Costa, Aritz Aduriz, Pablo Hernández and Roberto Soldado won Valencia the game against Turkish champions Bursaspor

Group D

Barcelona 5 – Panathinaikos 1

Barcelona lost 2-0 to newcomers Hercules on the weekend but they started brightly wanting to get that past them, but against the run of play Panathinaikos took the lead as Cisse flicked on the ball for Govou  who scored. Barcelona didn’t want a repeat of the weekend and within one minute were back level with the magical Messi. And Messi was on his amazing best and soon had a second for himself but couldn’t put away a penalty which as magical as he is, this penalty was as opposite to magical as it could be. Barcelona were on their best form looking like they are going to do well this Champions League campaign. Goals from David Villa, Pedro and Dani Alves rounded up this match.

København 1 – Rubin Kazan 0

København won the game last in the match with a header from Dame N’Doye. Rubin were the 5th biggest spenders in Europe this season and the fans will have expected more from their side and will expect better performances in the future as the will want to progress in the tournament
