Mamadou Sakho has extended his contract with Paris St-Germain until 2014. Sakho’s contract was due to run untill 2013, but he has shown some loyalty signing a contract extention as he is being watched by Europes top clubs. Not to be cynical but may be a buy out clause that would see PSG able to negotiate better with any potential buyers in the future.
That being said Mamadou Sakho had this to say on signing a new contract with his home club on the clubs website.
“I’m proud and delighted to have reached an agreement that suits everyone,”
“Now I don’t need to think about it anymore and can concentrate on playing. I’ve been here since I was 13 so I really wanted to sign a new deal with PSG. This season we’re near the top and we have to stay there. I have every confidence in the players and staff. I hope the results will follow and that we can go on to achieve great things.”
PSG president Robin Leproux said that the signing of the new contract for one of their most promising prospects was a sign of the club’s ambition.
“This sends out a message and is a great day for the club. I think all PSG fans have been waiting for Mamadou to extend his stay. I never doubted it would happen because he loves this club and is achieving great things here. It was imperative that we extended Mamadou’s contract and we couldn’t be happier. We have a squad that enjoys working together and we should see more contract extensions in the coming weeks. Mamadou is just the first,”
It seems PSG are showing their intentions to rise back to the prominant postion they used to hold in the french Laigue 1 of the 90’s.
