Van der Sar;Sagna,Vidic,Kompany,Cole;Nani,Nasri,Wilshere,Bale;Tevez,Berbatov.
4 players come from Manchester United, 3 players from Arsenal, 2 from Manchester City, 1 from Chelsea and 1 from Tottenham.
Vand der Sar has been outstanding for UNited one of the main reasons they are where they are in the league. Vidic is another one of those reasons. Kompany his is partner in defense from city rival City. the right and left back roles are filled by London based Sagna and Cole. An all new midfield with Nani, Nasri, Wilshere and Bale and upfront surprisingly sees Carlos Tevez in the Team of the Year for the first time, and is partnered by old team mate Dimitar Berbatov.
Vidic and Cole have been in the Team of the Year 4 times, with Van der Sar 3. Sagna and Berbatov make their second appearance while Kompany, Nani, Nasri, Wilshere, Bale and Tevez all make their first.
Players that I feel could have made it in the Team of the Year.
Yaya Toure: His first Season at City and he has fitted into the team and the Premiership perfectly. He has bossed the midfield on many occasions and has helped City become they force they currently are.
Gary Cahill: The Bolton man has earned some England call-ups this season and has deserved them all, and could have made it into the Team of the Year if it wasnt for Kompany and Vidic playing so well. In my opinion he has probably been one of the best England defenders with Terry having an indifferent season and Ferdinand being injured for so long. Smalling has also shown that he can step up to the mark, but maybe next season for him.
Micheal Dawson: Has been outstanding for Tottenham and along with Cahill has been the best English defender in the Premiership. If King didn’t have dodgy legs then I would love to have them both in the England team but Dawson should get into the England starting line up and is unfortunate that he doesn’t make the Team of the Year.
Leighton Baines: Baines has also earned himself some England call ups, and has been vital for Everton this season. A great left foot, has contributed with goals and quality free kicks and corners. If Cole had not been as consistent as always, Baines could well have been there ahead of him.
Jose Enrique: Another left back that could have gone ahead of Cole as his performances this season could earn him Newcastle’s Player of the Year. Carroll couldn’t have asked for better delivery from the left and Enrique was a constant threat on the attack down the left.
Andy Carroll: A supreme powerhouse for Newcastle, even though he is now at Liverpool, his performances for them early in the season have seen Newcastle stay in the Premiership. Injury put a halt to his progress, but and England call up came, and now back from injury is starting to get back to to his early form. If he continues on next season like this season, then he could be in the Team of the Year and be an England regular.
Scott Parker: With Nasri and Wilshire taking central midfield, there wasn’t room for Parker, but in my eyes there very well could have been. He has done his very best to keep West Ham up, and has shown his worth to West Ham, and in my opinion to the England team. He has been a work horse and deserves some recognition.
Luka Modric: The beginning of the season may have seen Van der Vaart taking the headlines, but as the season has gone on, Modric has shown the consistency. One of the reasons Tottenham are doing so well along with Dawson and Bale. I was surprised not to see him included in the PFA shortlist so not surprised he didn’t make the team of the year.
