So the draw has been made and it is an interesting read. With past European player of the years, Luis Figo, Sir Bobby Charlton, Ruud Gullit and Lothar Matthäus.
Bayern Munich; Villarreal; Manchester City; Napoli
Inter Milan; CSKA Moscow; Lille; Trabzonspor
Manchester Utd; Benfica; FC Basel; Otelul Galati
Real Madrid; Lyon; Ajax; Dinamo Zagreb
Chelsea; Valencia; Bayer Leverkusen; Genk
Arsenal; Ol. Marseille; Olympiacos; Borussia Dortmund
FC Porto; Shakhtar Donetsk; Zenit St. Petersburg; Apoel Nicosia
Barcelona; AC Milan; Bate Borisov; Viktoria Plzen
For me the two most difficult groups involve English teams and they are Group A with Manchester City facing tough competition against Villarreal, Napoli and Bayern, and Group F for Arsenal facing Marseille, Borussia Dortmund and Olympiacos.
Manchester United have the easiest group and should qualify with ease, where as Chelsea in Group E will face a tough ask facing Bayer Leverkusen and Valencia, and with Juan Mata only just signing for Chelsea from Valencia it adds some spice to the mix in those two games.
I can’t wait for the Champions League to kick off and eagerly wait to watch as many games possible and also try and get to some live matches!
