This season’s squad is one of the weakest in recent memory and with the loss to City meaning that the balance is now in the The Citizens favour it’s evident that United need to invest in new players to revive a team that has lost their conviction and here are three players that could do it.

With Inter Milan and Spurs looking to miss out on Champions League football should United capitalise and move for their Dutch stars? the answer is Yes!

Van der Vaart has been a success at Tottenham and now seems to be getting used to the Premiership and although he seems happy with life at Tottenham he maybe swayed to joining United in the summer as Tottenham look set to miss out on the Champions League again next season. Manchester United seem to have a good understanding with Tottenham having signed quite a few players from there over the last few season, and with their interest in Bale still around I don’t think that will change anytime soon. With Van der Vaart signing from Real Madrid back in 2010 for around £8 million it is fair to say that if United come in with an offer of around £14-£16 million then Daniel Levy could be tempted to cash in on the player.

Wesley Sneijder has not had the best of seasons with Inter Milan and it might be time for him to had a change of scenery and join fellow Dutch teammates to the English Premier League. Sneijder would probably cost more to buy than Van der Vaart, but if Inter don’t qualify for the Champions League then he may not cost all that much, but still his contract would probably be sizable. The Dutch maestro was linked with a move with both Manchester clubs during both transfer windows and I am sure this coming summer transfer window wont be any different. City can outbid and out-pay United, but if United win the league adding to their illustrious history and can sign Van der Vaart then Sneijder could be more inclined to sign for the red side of Manchester rather than the blue.

So if United did sign these two I think they would stand a good chance of luring Klass-Jan Huntelaar to Old Trafford in the summer as well. He has been in great form this season, I can’t say prolific when players like Messi and Ronaldo have been scoring like they have but he has scored 27 time in 31 games and is currently the leading goal scorer in the Bundesliga. Manchester United may have Wayne Rooney and it looks like Welbeck is going to be signing a new contract and have Hernandez but some added fire power wouldn’t be scoffed at.

United have a good standing with Dutch players with the likes of Jaap Stam, Edwin Van der Sar and Ruud van Nistelrooy so a new Dutch trio would be joining an honour roll of sorts and with René Meulensteen at the club they would have someone from the Netherlands on the coaching staff. Just those three players would really bolster the Manchester United as we all know that City will be adding to their squad and so United can’t afford to be left behind again this summer.

With just three signings this is how United could line-up next season.

  1. Agreed, those signings would definitely booster United’s squad. It was quite obvious in the derby that they lack that cutting edge creativity in the middle of the park, we all know as food as Giggs and Scholes were and still are kind of Fergie can’t rely on them for too much longer.
If I’m not mistaken I think they did go in for Sneijder last summer but were too late in the transmission period and it inevitably fell through. I do think that it will take at least 20million to lure him from Italy and no less even if they don’t qualify for the champions league.

Van dee vaart I think is going to stay with Spurs as long as Harry is manager. Seeings as Hodgson just got the England job Im pretty sure Harry is going to be there for the foreseeable future. He like you say, seems to have adapted very vell to life in the premier league.

Huntelaar is definately a possible signing for United as Im sure he knows the premier league is the top level of football and I’m sure he would fit in very well into their set up.
The only issue I see them having in order to sign another striker though is that they already have Rooney, Berbatov, Hernandez and Wellbeck so they would need to find the salary to be able to get him in.

Very illusive possibilities there though, really opens your eyes to solving a lot of United’s problems at the moment. Although, to be honest I think this year as with most years, Fergie will find a way to clinch the title by hook or by crook. My guess is by crook. Makes for a great read though.

    • I’m glad you enjoyed it, and I appreciate the comments. I feel that if Tottenham don’t get into the Champions League again this season then a host of their best players may be out the door. If Bale goes, and if he does I wouldn’t be surprised if United were not interested in him, and Modric went then I don’t see why VDV would want to stick around. As for Sneijder, it may be the best time for him to leave. Inter are not the team they were under Mourinho, no team is, and as they have had so many different manager recently, Sneijder may crave the stability that SAF brings to United

  2. Well no complaints, we got a petrty good draw, compared to what we could of gotIt will be an interesting matchup with AC with most of their players and manager saying that Barca are the only team better than them (haha) We’ll show them that we are light years ahead of them, then there is the chance to shut Ibra up Not too sure about the other 2 teams, but they’ll fight it out for Europa Look forward to seeing the team be in Munich
