West Ham have finalized the signing of the 24yr old Malian striker Modibo Maïga.

The name may be familiar to you as Newcastle were rumoured to be interested in the player last January but in the end they signed Papiss Demba Cissé. If Maïga can made the same impact in the Premiership for West Ham as Papiss Cissé did for Newcastle then there will be a lot of happy Hammers fans.

Not as prolific as either Demba Ba or Papiss Cissé, Maïga will still be a handful for the Premiership defenders who will now have the fear put in them by Newcastle’s Senegalese striker duo.

Modibo Maïga has joined West Ham from Sochaux on a four year deal for a region of around £5 million.
