After an eventful evening last night, today saw the second round of the Capital One League Cup take place.

With some up sets from Last night still being taken in the draw for the second round took place today.

Round one saw some big scorelines as well as a few upsets. Lee Clark’s Birmingham City got off to an impressive start to their League Cup campaign beating Barnet 5-1 while League one’s Swindon Town beat Brighton 3-0. League Two’s Northampton Town beat last year’s finalists Cardiff City 2-1 and Crawley Town went through on penalties after a 2-2 draw with Millwall as they continue to grow as a club. Leyton Orient also went through via penalties after drawing 1-1 with Charlton and Sheffield Wednesday secured their passage after coming back from 2-0 down to beat Oldham 4-2 but the biggest shock of round one came when Derby went out on penalties after leading by three goals on two occasions drawing 5-5 with Scunthorpe United.

So with Round Two seeing Premiership sides that are not in Europe entering the fray could some more upset be on the horizon? Yeovil Town will host West Brom, Nottingham Forest host Wigan and Stevenage host Southampton, so with the home ties upsets there are always a chance. Norwich City will host the never say die Scunthorpe United while Stoke host Di Canio’s hard fighting Swindon Town. Some other interesting toes are Crawley Town v Bolton, Preston North End v Crystal Palace and Coventry v Birmingham City.
