Last night saw the last round of qualifiers for the UEFA Champions League and the draw will take place in Monaco at 4.45pm today.

Tuesday night saw Bate Borisov from Belarus beat Israeli side Hapoel Kiryat Shmona 3-1 on aggregate to book their place into the UEFA Champions League group stage along with Belgian club Anderlecht; Croatia’s Dinamo Zagreb; SC Braga from Portugal, who knocked out Italian side Udinese on penalties and troubled Spanish side Malaga. They were joined by Romanian club CFR Cluj; Scotland’s Celtic; Russian club Spartak Moscow; The Ukraine’s Dynamo Kyiv and French club Lille.

Although they still had to go through the play-offs SC Braga and Dynamo Kyiv are in Pot 2 with Lille, Anderlecht and Spartak Moscow in Pot 3 with the remaining clubs in pot 4.

The best draw an English side could hope for would be Braga, Anderlecht and Nordsjælland and the worst would be Valencia, PSG and Dortmund.

There are going to be some very hard groups as the quality of teams across Europe is growing. Braga may be a better option, but they are going to be no pushovers. Any team from Pot 2 is going to give a team from Pot 1 trouble. And with clubs such as Dortmund, Juventus, PSG, Malaga, Lille there is less likely to be an easy group and even Montpellier and Ajax will cause some of the big teams trouble. There will undoubtedly be a group of death. Who knows we may see two!
